2012 ACHIEVE Conference & Case Competition
Four members of the Accounting Students' Association attended the 2012 ACHIEVE Accounting Conference and Case Competition hosted by Ryerson University in Toronto. The University of Calgary team placed third among 11 teams across Canada. Congratulations!
The ASA would like to thank the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta for sponsoring our team to compete in this case competition!
CGA Alberta’s Next Top Accountant Contest
The contest starts January 16th and closes by March 6th.
CGA Alberta’s Next Top Accountant Contest is back - and features more great prizes than ever before! This year’s grand prize winner will receive a paid summer accounting internship at Husky Energy in Calgary, CGA student entry fee and transcript evaluation ($880 value), AND $3,000 cash! 2nd and 3rd place winners receive great prizes too!

Join the ICAA for an exclusive evening of bowling and networking. Meet CAs in your city! Ask them questions. Hear their stories. It's as simple as that. Plus, experience the joy of wearing rental shoes!This event has a limited number of spots available, so register ASAP! Bowling team members will be randomly selected and will consist of two CAs and four students. Those registered for the event will also have a chance to win a draw for a $1000.00 tuition credit! Those eligible for the draw must be a full-time student in a business or commerce program.

ASA 2011/2012 Recruitment
The mandate of the Accounting Students' Association is to help bridge the accounting community and the accounting students at the Haskayne School of Business as well as assisting accounting students through courses such as ACCT 317 and ACCT 323. Being involved in the ASA comes with many benefits, some of which include:
- Adding significant value to your resume when you apply for a job
- Meeting new people and working in a dynamic team environment
- Overcoming new challenges outside the classroom
- Learning more about different accounting designations and companies who recruit accounting students
- Having fun!

GAAPS Conference 2011
Four members of the Accounting Students Association recently went to the
2011 GAAPS conference at the Asper School of Business to compete in a case competition. Teams from all across Canada were flown
in to participate in this three day event, and in the end, our team managed to place in second. Congratulations!
