
Programmer/Computer Support
Technician
An immediate
opening is available for an experienced computer programmer to contribute to a
variety of cutting-edge projects at the University
of Calgary, in the Institute for
Sustainable Energy, Environment, and Economy (ISEEE),
within the Energy and Environmental Systems Group (EESG), under the
directorship of Dr. David Keith. The successful applicant will be given a
unique opportunity to work closely with a team of scientists conducting
research on topics such as climate change, wind energy, carbon sequestration,
numerical weather prediction, and oil sands life cycle assessment. Problem solving and communication will be an
essential component of this position.
Full and part-time candidates will be considered. The salary will be competitive and
commensurate with experience. Candidates
with scientific training are strongly encouraged to apply.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Good working knowledge of Linux/Unix operating system
(preferably on a cluster with multiple processors and nodes)
- Experience with scientific programming and managing
large datasets
Desired Skills:
- Working knowledge of OpenMP,
MPI, FORTRAN, C++, HTML, and scripting in the Linux/Unix environment
- Familiarity with Matlab and
Mathmatica
- Experience with or willingness to learn computational
fluid dynamics.
