1998 Track Schedule
This year, the CBTL will not be running too many races due to rebuilding
our internal infrastructure. In other words, we are just trying to get
our stuff together after the last few years. In past years, we have run
a number of national races, including hosting the Tim Hortons Canadian
Track Nationals (most recently in 1997). We hope to be able to run more
races next year.
Training Times
Saturday (9am to noon), and Tuesday (6pm to 9pm) the track will be booked
for open training time for all CBTL members.
Thursday Night Races
Every Thursday night (6:30pm to 9pm), we will run races open to all CBTL
members.

The NCTDC and ABA will be running a cycling orientation course
this weekend. Contact the NCTDC for further details. |
| May 1 |
1998 Season registration (5pm - 9pm)
We will have registration at the track this year. |
| May 1,2,3 |
CBTL Novice orientation
This course is run to allow new riders to try out track biking and
learn how to do it. You must come to this course or make special
arrangements before being allowed to ride during club times (racing or
training). We just do this to keep everything safe.
This is a three day course, May 1 (6pm - 9pm) and May 2&3 (12
noon to 3pm). If you are interested, but can only come for some
of it, please contact us and we will try to make arrangements for you.
Please call Mark Bentley (282-5594) to let us know that you are coming
and to let us know who to notify if weather forces us to cancel the
course.
Cost: $20.00 This may be put towards your season registration. |
| May 2 |
The first Saturday morning training seasions. The track will
be open for all members from 9am to 12 noon every Saturday during
the season. |
| May 5 |
The first Tuesday nigth training seasions. The track will be
open for all members from 6pm to 9pm every Tuesday night during
the season. |
| May 7 |
The first Thursday night race (6:30pm to 9pm depending
on light). Every Thursday night during the season, we will run races
open to all members. Also, the 3rd Thursday of each month will have
a points race at the end of the night for a little extra fun.
Cost: Free to members ($2.00 will be charged for the points race,
with all fees going towards prizes). |

NCTDC Race (9am to 3pm)
This will be an ABA sanctioned race run by the NCTDC and CBTL. |
| May 25 |
Sprints ladder seeding (6:30 to 9pm)
We havn't done the sprints for a while, but we will give it a try this
year. Depending on the response we will see how often this gets run.

| June 6 |
Bikeshavic Grand Prix and Bike equipment swap meet (9am to 6pm)
Well, Colin and the ABA wanted a race, so here it is! This will
be ABA sanctioned.
We will also have a bike equipment swap at this time so that you can
get rid of that equipment that you no longer used, and get what you need!

| July 18, 19 |
Arvid Geldsetzer Memorial Race (9am to 6pm)
Arvid was a promising young Calgary sprinter who died during training
just before Junior World Championships in 1992. Ever since, the CBTL
has held a race each year in his honor.
This year we are definitly hoping to have riders from accross the nation
welcome to attend on their way to Canadian Nationals. It will of
course be ABA sanctioned.

CBTL Year end fun race and Bar-B-Q (9am to 6pm dailey)
Well, this is just to let us have some fun and unwind. This will
not be ABA sanctioned, as we would like all our members to get easy access.

Official end of the season. This will of course be changed when
we get there depending on the weather. |
