NORSTAR

The Northern Solar Terrestrial Array is a network of auroral imagers designed to produce large scale maps of the Northern Lights.

Currently with instruments in Gillam, Churchill, Athabasca, Rankin Inlet, and Resolute Bay.

Poca

This dual was located at Eureka (near the geomagnetic pole) for many years It is now operating at the Churchill Northern Studies Center.

Originally developed and operated by David Steele as part of the Canadian Network for Space Research.

Themis

The goal of this NASA mission is to study magnetospheric substorms with five satellites and a network of ground-based instruments. Our group at Calgary is playing a major role in the deployment and operation of ground based imagers.

Latest agenda for the October 17 GBO EPR.

Great picture and movie from Athabasca (2003-10-04).

CANOPUS

A Canadian array of ground-based instruments for studies of magnetosphere/ionosphere interactions.

Previous Work

CAMI4

Using contraposed magnetometers to study rapid global response.  JGR in-press, 2001.  Preprints available in PostScript, PDF, and HTML.  A follow-up study is underway.

Azimuthal Propagation of Substorm Current Systems

Using data from meridian scanning photometers with overlapping fields of view to infer auroral emission heights.  Just about ready to submit..

UHF Radar Aurora

Finishing a paper on moment estimation left over from my thesis, now waiting to see what the referees think...

Power Spectral Moments and ACFs

Finishing a paper on moment estimation left over from my thesis, now waiting to see what the referees think...

Redline Triangulation

Using data from meridian scanning photometers with overlapping fields of view to infer auroral emission heights.  Just about ready to submit..

InterBall UVAI

This Ultra-violet auroral imager flew on the Russian InterBall auroral probe satellite.

Windii

Documentation for some data I/O and display routines (written in IDL), a zip file with the HTML and images, and another zip file with the IDL code.

Please email me if you download or use any of this, so I can keep you informed of changes.
