Sponsorship
Funding to establish the Institute
was provided by the Alberta Law Foundation in 1987. In addition to the
Foundation's continuing support, funds for specific projects are also
provided by various private and public sector sponsors. Over the years,
projects have been funded by: (1) provincial
government departments (e.g., Alberta Family and Social Services, Alberta
Career Development and Employment, Premier's Council in Support of Alberta
Families, Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services, Ontario
Ministry of the Attorney General, Manitoba Native Justice Inquiry; Yukon
Justice); (2) federal government departments (e.g., Justice Canada, Health
Canada, Immigration Canada, Department of Canadian Heritage, Solicitor
General Canada, Status of Women Canada, RCMP; Public Safety and Emergency
Preparedness Canada); (3) other agencies (e.g., Alberta Association of
Services for Children and Families, Federation of Law Societies, Society for
Children's Right to Adequate Parental Support, Parent Aide Program of
Calgary, Edmonton Police Service, Calgary Police Service, Alberta Children's
Hospital); (4) foundations (e.g., Laidlaw Foundation, Alberta Family Life
and Substance Abuse Foundation, Donner Canadian Foundation); (5) other
institutes and universities (e.g., Alberta Law Reform Institute, Policy
Research Centre for Children, Youth and Families, University of Toronto);
and (6) international agencies (e.g., The British Council, BT Forum). The
University of Calgary provides the Institute with furniture and accounting
services.
