Children's Literature Associations on the Internet
Many of these associations have responsibilities beyond children's books, but all have some interest in the subject.
Note: This is not a comprehensive list of children's literature associations; I have only listed those associations that have information available on the Internet.
- ALAN: The Assembly on Literature for Adolescents
- Includes information about the association, and a link to the The ALAN Review
- American Booksellers Association BookWeb
- Includes a directory of ABA-member bookstores, and news about books and the book industry that will be of interest to booksellers and consumers.
- American Library Association
- Or link directly to the Association for Library Service to Children, or the Young Adult Library Services Association.
- Associations for Writers
- This page from the Inkspot site lists associations that will be of interest to children's book writers.
- Australian Library and Information Association
- The Canadian Children's Book Centre
- An organization of publishers,booksellers, libraries and schools established to promote Canadian Children's books.
- Canadian Library Association
- Includes mostly administrative information about the association, its organization, and publications.
- Canadian School Library Association
- Information about the association, and a wide variety of useful links
- CANSCAIP Minus-30
- The Canadian Society of Children's Authors, Illustrators and Performers, Northern Alberta Chapter.
- Child Study Children's Book Committee
- Publishes lists of recommended books for children, and presents Book Awards for fiction and nonfiction.
- Children's Book Council
- Includes information about the organization and its publications. The complete text of their pamphlet "Choosing a Children's Book" is available, as is a list of CBC members (That list is probably the closest we will come to a complete listing of US juvenile publishers).
- Children's Literature Association
- An international scholarly organization.
- Children's Literature Association of Utah
- The website lists the winners of the Utah's Children's Choice Awards, and includes teaching ideas for next year's nominated titles.
- Library Association Youth Libraries Group
- A division of the [British] Library Association.
- Mythopoeic Society
- A literary organization devoted to the study of fantasy literature and myth.
- Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators
- An professional organization for both new and experienced writers and illustrators.
- T.A.L.E.S.
- The Alberta League Encouraging Storytelling.
- Young Alberta Book Society
