The final resting place of Sir James Lougheed (the great-grandfather of Peter Lougheed, former Premier of Alberta). Sir James was appointed to the Senate in 1889, the youngest person in the upper house at that time. He was known in Calgary for his thriving law practise and his real estate and business ventures.
The markers of the successive generations of the Lougheed family bear names familiar to Calgarians from the sandstone buildings which also bore their names; Clarence, Edgar, Norman and Douglas.
