She completed her post-doctoral training in the Department of Physiology & Biophysics at the University of Calgary studying the role of endogenous opioids in modulating baseline cardiovascular and renal function (2000-2002) as well as the role of the non-receptor protein tyrosine kinase Fer in innate immunity and inflammation (2002-2004). Currently, Dr. Qi is studying the relationship between angiotensin II and nitric oxide in relation to cardiovascular and renal function during development.
