About the Newsletter

The IRC Bi-weekly newsletter is intended to be a resource to provide members with information about important dates, events on or off campus, and upcoming events organized by the IRC. There may also be, from time to time information pertaining to student life and study. Finally, it is intended to act a venue for members to have their voices heard through our ongoing ‘Your Voice!’ section.

A Word from the Executive Team

I would like to welcome you all back to another fine school year at the University of Calgary! This year we are looking forward to club activities characterized by a greater level of member involvement than has been seen in past years. This is every members’ club, and it will be what we make of it. I think this is crystallized in our club slogan ‘Be the change you want to see’. We have an exciting list of ideas for IRC events this year, ranging from information panels on jobs in IR, to Cold War themed lazar-tag, to seminars given by experts in their respective fields, to beers around the world. To this end, we greatly look forward to hearing from you, getting the chance to meet you at our events, and working with you.

Sincerely,

Brodie Watson, IRC President

We want to hear from you!

This is your chance to tell the IRC community what you think...

As a new feature of the IRC mail-out, we will be accepting 400-500 word articles from the general membership. The articles should be self contained topics (the readers should get the point in the allotted space) and can be written about any topic relating to international relations, world affairs, current events, etc... They can be opinion based, or simply informing the readers about something you find interesting or important.

Please e-mail your submissions to the IRC account irclub@hotmail.com with the heading ‘your voice! Article’. The submissions will be reviewed by the IRC executive team to select the next issues winner. Please feel encouraged to write articles in response to previously selected articles that you feel strongly about, this would be a great way to foster dialogue and discussion!
