Terminator Area

The Terminator Wall area actually consists of The Terminator, The Replicant, Sea of Vapours and other lines, seen L from the trail by the Bow river, and R from the base of the wall. These climbs are probably some of the most sort after "hard" routes in the Rockies. In the 96-97 season stories of line-ups, (sometimes not to orderly) were heard. The 96-97 ice season also saw two Canadian climbers complete solos of all three routes in one day.

At the time of its first ascent, Sea of Vapours was given the top grade of 7+. Subsequent seasons have produced a different climb, with much thicker ice, when it was generally regarded about "5". This may reflect a change in the drainage patterns on Mt. Rundle.
The Terminator may be the "most looked at" piece of vertical ice in the Rockies, and traditionally rarely forms completely. However the 96-97 season saw the first ascent on Hallowen (complete with pumpkin) and it lasted the whole season (end of April).
