Young male wolf in the Bialowieza Forest, Eastern Poland.

These wolves' main prey is Red Deer. In wolf scats, I found hair of animals ranging in size from mice to European Bison. This elucidates the connections existing among predators and prey along the food-web. However, Polish wolves were never observed killing Bison. Did they scavenge on previously dead Bison?
