Dr. Yvonne Martin is an Associate Professor at the University of Calgary in the Department of Geography. Her research has focused recently on interactions of vegetation, hydrology, and landscape morphodynamics.
Additionally Dr. Martin is an Associate Director of the Biogeosciences Institute at the University of Calgary and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Geoscience. These connections provide her graduate and undergraduate with unique opportunities.
Dr. Martin has been doing innovative research at the University of Calgary since 1997.
Dr. Martin's research began by examining wildfire impacts on geomorphology. From this research her interests spread to other aspects of geomorphology/ecology interactions such as tree throw.
New research projects include investigating bioturbation impacts on soil production, soil mixing and sediment transport. There are also projects involving geomorphic and hydrological and/or ecological interactions currently underway.
Dr. Martin has been published in journals such as Ecological Monographs, Forest Science, Progress in Physical Geography, Encyclopedia of Environmetrics (2nd Edition), Catena and Earth Surface Processes and Landforms.
