Thursday, April 14th, 2011 New Executive Board Siema! Molly's on Monday was a blast! Thanks everyone for coming out to the elections and celebrating another awesome year with PSC!! We would like to congratulate all the newly elected board members for 2011/2012! President - Monica Albertin
Here's to making next year even better than this year! Cheers!
After a very long winter, warm weather is finally here (April Fools!) Come celebrate the arrival of spring with Polanie Polish Song & Dance Association at the:
Hello All!
I am writing with a great opportunity and proposition! I have been granted the title of Quo Vadis III Regional Coordinator for the city of Calgary.
Quo Vadis III: Tools for Success is the third annual Quo Vadis Conference and seeks to connect young Polish leaders across Canada, the United States, and Europe. This year’s conference is being held in Toronto, Ontario (May 13-15) and I am writing to see if anyone is interested in joining the great cause. I am in the process of finding sponsorship but I need to be able to provide an approximate number of people who are interested in going. Please take a look at the website (http://quovadisconference.com/) and let me know if you would like some further information.
I know for the most part your decision will be based on financial standings. This is precisely why I need to know as soon as possible if you would be interested in going. I am very likely able to gain enough sponsorship to cover flights to and from Toronto. Aside from the conference you’d get an awesome experience in Toronto! Please look over some of the information I have provided and get in touch ASAP.
Registration for the conference closes soon so make sure to take a peak and see if you’re interested!
Thanks,
Natalia
Hey everyone!
Hope you are all staying warm and counting down the days until the semester is over! Kimberley was great times, thanks once again to everyone who came out! We have a handful of events lined up until the end of April that we want to let you know about:
1) U of C Euro 2011 We all know that everyone can’t wait for Euro 2012. So, to ease the wait a bit we have devised an interim football solution. On Friday, March 18th, The French Club, German Club, Polish Students’ Club and Ukrainian Students’ Society have joined together to put on U of C Euro 2011!!!
A four team soccer tournament for all the marbles! The event will take place at the Jack Simpson gymnasium at 5:30pm. We encourage everyone to join us for what is sure to be the event of the year! Play for your club in a shot at being crowned U of C Euro Champions! Not a player? Not to worry, we all know a team is nothing without its fans. Come out and cheer on your side. We encourage both players and fans to wear their national colours and bring flags, scarves, vuvuzelas and any other nationalist/soccer gear you have to help raise team spirit!
2) Movie Night On Monday, March 21, starting at 6:00 PM, we will be watching Dzien Swira in Engineering Building A 201 (ENA 201). For a map and places to park click HERE. There will be a $2 entrance fee which will include the movie as well as pizza!
3) Cultural Month Polanie Performance March is cultural month and the PSC has invited Polanie to perform at the University on March 30 at 11AM. We encourage everyone to come out and watch some traditional Polish folk dancing!
4) PISK (Polish Student's Initiative of Canada) Newsletter You can find the PISK newsletter here, which highlights events that Polish students across Canada are setting up.
That's all from us, if you have any questions don't hesitate to give us a shout!
Cheers,
Happy Valentine's Day!
We have a couple of articles for you today from ZnajomaPolonia.com, a website for Polaks living abroad looking to meet other Polaks living abroad. The first article is about the history of Valentine's Day, and the second is about love. Read ahead if you're interested!
That's all for now, we hope you all survive this week. And remember, even if you fail that midterm, Kimberley will take all your pain away...
