Bi-election - VP Events
If you’ve enjoyed being a member of [SiC] and are looking to get more involved, why not run for a 2006/07 Executive position. This is your opportunity to be more than just a member and to help guide this dynamic club into the future. Any current club member is eligible to run and/or vote for the following position in the upcoming by-election:
VP Events
This person is responsible for organizing social events that give members a chance to socialize and have fun. They organize Cabs at the Den, fundraisers and any social events that give members a chance to relax and get to know one another.
Nominations are due January 19, 2007. This form can be submitted to any current [SiC] executive member during office hours at our office (SS 353). Or the form can be deposited in the blue box outside our office. Elections will be held on January 24, 2007 in the Communication and Culture Lounge (SS 311). For more information email

Communications Gala
The annual Communications
Dinner Gala will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2006 in the Blue Room at the
University of Calgary’s Dining Centre. It’s never too soon to
start thinking about your post-university career, and this event will give
you the opportunity to connect, interact and network directly with industry
professionals who have many years of experience in the business community.
Your ticket to this event will include dinner, the best seat in town for our
interactive panel discussion followed by a presentation from our high profile
keynote speaker! You won’t want to miss out on some great prize
giveaways as well as our after party bash at Mynt
Ultra Lounge!
Tickets for [SIC] members are $20 just for the Gala or $25 including the
after party.
Tickets for non-members are $25 and $30 respectively.
Tickets for the after party only are $6 so if you have friends who like to
party, spread the word for them to join us!
If you only come to one event the entire year, make sure you attend the 2006
Communications Dinner Gala - it may be the most important night of your
university career!

Graduation Photos
Friday March 17th graduation photos will be taking place for
everyone in the faculty of Communications and Culture. The sign-up sheet is
located on SiC office door (SS 353). 10 photos cost $12 and everything will
be provided (robes, flowers, square hats), all we ask is that gentlemen come
in dress shirt and tie, women may come as they are.

Fundraiser/Meet and Greet
This week SiC will be holding a Texas Donut Sale in the Science Theatres
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 10am and 2pm so come on by and
purchase a donut or two! On top of the donut sale we’ll also be selling
more memberships with an added bonus this time. After you purchase the 5
dollar membership you will be entered into a raffle happening this Friday the
10th in the Red Room of the Den. Prizes include 2 pairs of tickets
to a Calgary Hitmen game, a 25 dollar gift
certificate to Joey Tomatoes World Grill along with a number of other prizes.
If you’ve already purchased a membership this year, you’ll
automatically be entered into the raffle, do don’t worry! The Meet and
Greet will happen between 2 and 5pm, there will be pizza and pop so
there’s no reason for you not to come by. We look forward to seeing you
all there!

SIC is back for 2006!
Yes it’s true, SIC is back this semester we’re excited to be up
and running again! After a slow start to the school year, we have many great
ideas in the works for the upcoming semester. Not only do we want to make SIC
a place for students in the faculty to meet and make new friends, we’re
here as your link to information about seminars and other events that will
help you focus your tools as a communicator. Our year end Gala along with our
association with organizations such as the IABC and CPRS provide members with
the opportunity to network with professionals in many different fields. Come
and check out our table in MacHall during Clubs
Week (January 16-20) between 10am and 2pm to sign up or just to get more
information.
