Course Description: This independent study course in rhetoric will create an academic foundation for the examination of a special theme of inquiry. The course will explore ancient Greek and Roman rhetorical theory, education and practice; contemporary interpretations of the ancient rhetorical tradition; and applications of rhetorical analysis to a special theme. Using the foundation of historical and theoretical knowledge of the rhetorical tradition and related critiques, the course will then focus on practical applications of rhetorical theory in relation to the student's theme of inquiry.
