Teaching
I teach courses ranging from introductory undergraduate
through to the graduate level. In addition to the courses listed below,
I offer readings courses to graduate students focusing on various
research topics in geomorphology.
Geography 201: The Physical
Environment
This is our introductory course in physical geography, providing
students with
an overview to our discipline. There is a lab component to this
course.
Geography 307: Landform Processes and Morphology
This is our introductory geomorphology course, providing students with
a broad
overview to geomorphic processes and landforms. Weekly labs
introduce
students to analytical skills while field trips to the Rockies and
Drumheller
allow students to gain field interpretation skills.
Geography 691: Advanced Fluvial Geomorphology
This course is an advanced course for graduate students and very keen
undergraduate students. Topics considered in this course are
sediment
transport processes and channel morphology.
Geography 699.02: Seminar in the Philosophy and Nature
of Physical
Geography
During my graduate studies, I developed a strong interest in the
philosophy of
sciences and theoretical / methodological issues related to the study
of
physical geography. Such issues form the core content of this
seminar
course, which is one of the required courses for our graduate students
in
physical geography.
