CIA Accreditation Agreement -The University of Calgary

Approved Course Exemption Grades for 2013-2014

The agreement relates to the specific courses offered by the university which have been mapped to the SOA/CAS/CIA Exam Syllabus for the specific exams outlined below.

The CIA will review the minimum grades for exemptions for each course at the university of Calgary on an annual basis. The CIA is targeting to have a higher standard for exemption, resulting in fewer candidates obtaining exemptions than would successfully pass SOA/CAS exams.

Exemptions will be granted by the CIA based on the studentís achievement of the following minimum passing grades:

Note:

The CIA will grant student exemptions based on the achievement of the Exemption Grade towards Associateship (ACIA) and Felllowship (FCIA) in the CIA.

At the time of this agreement, CIA exemptions are recognized by the following actuarial organizations towards their respective designations:

Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS): ACAS, FCAS

UK Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA): FIA

The CIA does not guarantee that exemptions granted to students under the CIA UAP will be recognized by any other actuarial organizations towards their actuarial designations.
