1. GENERAL INFORMATION
1.1 The 2001 Canada Cup will be held in Calgary, Alberta under the sanction of the Canadian Cycling Association.
1.2 The event will be held at Glenmore Velodrome. It is a 400 m paved concrete facility that was built for the 1976 Western Canada Games. The Velodrome is located in Glenmore Athletic Park in southwest Calgary near the corner of Crowchild Trail and 50th Ave. .
1.3 The competition will take place on August 24, 25, and 26, 2001.
1.4 The facility has no artificial lighting so all racing will be done during daylight hours.

2. TECHNICAL CONDITIONS
2.1 The Canada Cup will be run in accordance with UCI regulations.
2.2 The competition will include the following categories
Open
Women
Junior Men
Masters

2.3 The competition format will be in accordance with the UCI.
2.4 The competition will entirely take place on the Glenmore Velodrome.

3. ELIGIBILITY FOR PARTICIPATION
Participation in the 2001 Canada Cup is open to all track cyclists licensed through their provincial/state and national organizations.
3.1 This is an open competition to all licensed cyclists.

3.2 All riders will have to sign a waiver before riding in the Glenmore Velodrome.

3.3 Any riders under 18 years of age will have to have their parent(s) sign the waiver on their behalf and have it witnessed. The waiver will be available on this www site before the race so that out-of-city riders can have their parents sign before they come to Calgary if their parents are not attending the racing.

4. OFFICIATING
The head commissiare will be an experienced international commissaire.

 

5. ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS

We will be using Best Western as our sponsor hotels. One is located just off Crowchild Trail in the Northwest, ( http://www.villageparkinn.com/ ) near the University of Calgary and the other just off of McLeod Trail South ( http://www.hospitalityinnsltd.com/ ) In either case, you can contact them, mention that you are with the Calgary Canada Cup #2 Cycling block and get a reduced rate on your room.

There are no motels or hotels within easy walking distance. Mount Royal College, where some of you may have stayed in the past is not available after August 15 as they are getting their rooms ready for incoming students. The old Canadian Army base, which is relatively close, west across Crowchild Trail, has furnished rooms for rent on a nightly basis during the Summer months through University College International. 8. TRAINING AND COMPETITION CONDITIONS
8.1 Participating athletes shall have a training facility at their disposal under a time schedule to be fixed upon their arrivals.
8.2 A motorbike will be available for qualified coaches/managers for motorpacing in the two days before the competition and for warm up purposes on the days of the competition.

 

9. ENTRIES
9.1 Registration deadline is August 17, 2001, in our hands. Late entries will be assessed an additional $20 on to their original entry fee.
9.2 No race day registration will be accepted.

10. IDENTIFICATION:

10.1 All riders will be required to provide the chief Commisaire on site with their cycling licenses at the start of the competition. They will be returned following the competition.
10.2 Those choosing to race in the Junior Men category must also provide the race organizers with a picture ID with a birth date as well as their license at on site registration.

10.3 Anyone planning on riding in the Masters category must be able to prove their age with a picture ID.

11. AWARDS
11.1 Awards for the top three placings in each race will be presented shortly after the finishers for each event are finalized.
11.2 All cash prizes will be in Canadian dollars.

12. FINANCIAL CONDITIONS
All entry fees must be settled with the Organizing Committee upon arrival in Calgary and before any racing has taken place.
