I'm back!

Not that I've actually been anywhere. I just haven't been here. You know what I mean?

Down to business. Here are some of the many many sites that I will be adding to the Guide in the next few weeks. Some of them are new, and some have been around for quite some time but neglected by me.

BookMuse Kids' Corner - I really like this site for book discussion guides, and grade-appropriate reading suggestions.

About Children's Books - Magazine-style web site with a new feature every week. Part of the About Network. Other "About Guides" not to be missed: About Young Adult Books, About Kids' Books and About Language Arts for Kids.

Kidsreads and Teenreads - Book reviews of current releases. Teenreads seems to have a few additional features such as author profiles and is definitely worth a look.

Cuatrogatos: Revista de literatura infantil - My ability to read Spanish is nonexistent, but this appears to be an excellent review of Spanish-language children's literature, featuring both scholarly discussions and reviews.

Ricochet - This site has been around for a long time, and has evolved into a very useful database of information on authors, "classic" children's books, and more. A European perspective on children's books; in French, Spanish, and now English.

Du côté des filles - A European organization researching gender stereotypes in children's literature. The Web site is in French, Spanish, and Italian, with plans for an English version in the future.

ipicturebooks - A publisher of picture books in e-book form.

Fred Bortz - A leading writer of science and technology nonfiction for young people

Beverly Cleary - A publisher-produced site that emphasizes the Ramona books.

Jane Cutler - Web site of the author of picture books and novels for children (The Cello of Mr. O, Spaceman)

Roald Dahl - The official Roald Dahl Web site, established by the Roald Dahl literary estate. A very impressive and useful site.

James Heneghan - Web site of the Vancouver-based YA novelist (The Grave, Wish Me Luck and others)

Kathleen Krull - Author of the "Lives of" series (Authors, Musicians, Extraordinary Women, etc.). Includes book excerpts, games, and resources for using biography in the classroom.

Bijou Le Tord - Author illustrator of elegant picture books, often with a theme related to Christianity or Art.

Bernard Most - Author/illustrator of books for the very young. Very popular books. It's been almost 10 years since I last read it out loud to my children, but I can still remember every word of The Cow that went Oink!

Kenneth Oppel - Canadian author of the successful Silverwing and Sunwing, and other picture books and novels.

Lemony Snicket - A funny tie-in with the popular Series of Unfortunate Events.

William Steig - Publisher's site for the author/illustrator of such classics as Brave Irene, Dominic, and the new Wizzil. While you're at it, you can check out the official movie site for Shrek.

Jane Yolen - A very thorough site by the prolific writer, storyteller, teacher and editor. Look especially for the sections addressed to teachers and writers.
