Design of Fuel Cells, Fell Cell Stacks, and Fuel Cell Systems



With the increase concern of pollution and global warming, fuel cells have been considered with great potential in the future to replace the combustion-based energy sources due to their zero-emission property for protecting the environment. Despite of the potential, the poor performance and high cost are considered as the two major obstacles in the design of fuel cell products. Our research on fuel cells aims at developing an integrated modeling approach for improving functional performance and reducing production costs. The research was supported by Ballard Power Systems, Vancouver, Canada and Versa Power Systems, Calgary, Canada.
