Abstract
This paper explains design knowledge for software design and discusses the application to the automatic design of software. A high maturity software development organization has been taken as the expert model. where their work process has been standardized. Their hierarchical work process shows the knowledge structure. These and other design knowledge may be acquired systematically from documents. Each knowledge substructure consists of a multiplicity of knowledge units ranging from skill level, rule based and so called knowledge based. The last part discusses how the knowledge should be used for automatic design, and an example on an Intelligent CASE tool is discussed in detail.

Abstract
This paper reports the result of a study to formulate two software components named "Design Direction Finder" and "Design Rule Inventor" in the context of software creation project. Design rule inventor is responsible for detailing current design pattern when there is not any past experience for that pattern. Design direction finder, on the other hand, must decide about the correct way that detailing process should forward. The results shows that by studying micro steps of well human made designs it is possible to recognize rules that formulates both of these components.

Abstract
Design is a task that there can be no specific and completely predefined knowledge for that. CBR is a kind of reasoning which is quite suitable for this kind of tasks. Since design without creativity is not that much valuable, taking this issue into account is gaining more popularity. In this paper, we want to investigate the role of adaptation knowledge in increasing creativity. We have based the procedure of assessing situation on adaptation knowledge. We have also introduced dynamic similarity to assimilate the solution considering adaptation. To implement the idea we use adaptation knowledge and make a network which may help us to reformulate the problem and assimilate and evaluate the solution.

Abstract
Common diagnosis systems view the accurate identification of components responsible for the faulty behavior of the system as the ultimate goal of the diagnostic activity. Restoring the system to its functioning state is a secondary concern that is not explicitly addressed during the fault identification process. In this article, we take the restoration of the system to be our ultimate objective and ,thus, the diagnosis is important only to the extend that it contributes to derive a repair plan with minimal expected cost. Both in case of a single fault and multiple-independent faults, we build on existing approaches for repair planning to construct an algorithm for scheduling repair actions. Encoding our knowledge about the system in a Bayesian network, we, then, account for the possibility of sensing using an approximation algorithm based on limited look-ahead evaluation of pending sources of information based on their degree of informativeness and associated costs.

Abstract
A Multi-Agent Learning Language (MALL) is defined as being necessary for agents in environments where they encounter crucial situations in which they have to learn about the environment, other parties moves and strategies, and then construct an optimal plan. The language helps to implement a variety of algorithms that uses an extensive explanation based inferences. Tow major factors are taken in consideration. Those are level of certainty (decision making under uncertainty) in which the decision maker has to select among alternatives (explanations) depending on the level of information he has about the state of the world and the degree of optimism, and, fully monitoring (surveying) the agents and the environment, while devising the plan. In this introductory paper we present the layout of the language and how it works. The language is being implemented in Electronic Commerce competitive dealer agents, and, generally can be implemented in any game theoretical environment.

Abstract
In this paper, we present a scheme for developing an intelligent CAL (Computer Assisted Learning) system on the Web, focusing on the problem solving in representing and acquiring as well as reusing teaching knowledge of a teacher. Firstly, we propose a learning and mode called "test-searching information by a knowledge-map-adaptive learning", in which s user's study level is on-line diagnosed and, according to the result of diagnoses an adaptive knowledge-map guiding an adaptive learning is supplied to the user by a computer. In order to achieve this, we developed a general-purpose CAL system using a CBR approach, in which teaching knowledge is expressed by a case that includes both a pattern (test record of a student) and an adaptive knowledge map (teaching strategy of a teacher. Through an easy-to-use interface, a teacher can input his teaching knowledge into a knowledge base of the system. Further, we introduce the configuration of the system and summarize some merits of the system, as well as identify its general-purpose meaning in developing practical CAL for various education domains.

Abstract
The syllabuses system workgroup of the Faculty of Engineering, Saitama University was assigned to develop system and software for the electronic syllabuses of the Faculty of Engineering in October 1995. Since then the workgroup has produced the system and a syllabuses database containing 460 entries for the lectures of all of the 6 engineering departments. The workgroup has developed programs to automatically convert the database to hypertext format, programs for automatic generation of syllabuses entries by the instructors, form based and frame based search engines and a bilingual search engine for keyword search of the database. An important feature of this system is the automatic remote update facility for the entries. This is done via developing CGI and plug-in software that take care of the state of the access. In this way instructors can update syllabuses entries from remote clients using ordinary browsers and the state of the edit is preserved in the forms. By automating the update process the problem of manual maintenance of the syllabuses entries is totally removed.

インターネットの普及に伴い、 ネットワークを用いて情報公開を行なうことが一般的になりつつある。 埼玉大学においても、学内のネットワーク化を推進し、 インターネットの有効活用に力を注いでいる。 本学工学部においては、平成6年度より、 ネットワークの工学教育への有効利用を図ってきた。 その一環として、電子シラバスシステムの構築(1)と試験運用を行ない、 講義内容を公開してきた。 これにより学生は講義に関するより多くの情報についてネットワーク により検索・閲覧することができるようになった。 さらに、学生と教官の双方向コミュニケーションの一層の推進を図るため、 学生からの質問やディスカッションの機能を持たせることで、 講義内容の質問事項等が次の講義にフィードバックさせやすくなり、 より講義内容の理解を深められるように用いることができるようになった。

Abstract
Most of the works related to software agents is based on the assumption that the other agents are trustworthy. In the growing Internet environment this may be a false assumption. We are developing software agents for Electronic Commerce (EC) that operates in various security zones. They can exchange information with trusted agents and try to predict actions of the agents that cannot be trusted. In this paper we introduce a Multi-Agent Learning Language (MALL), aimed to make agents learn from their environment about the strategies of their opponents and later on make their own plans depending on the other players moves. Details of the language in EC agents and an implementation of such agents in JAVA are discussed.

現在使われているほとんどのネットワークは、様々なプロトコルモジュール群の組合わせにより実現されている。ネットワークは、必要性の増大に伴い、より複雑になりサイズも巨大化している。よって故障による影響は深刻となり、いかにに故障を出さないかが重要視されている。本研究では、分散化されたベイズネットワークを用いた自動的な故障診断と修復システムを提案する。WAN内の各領域に対して一つのエージェントを割当てる。各エージェントは、固有のの知識をBayesian サブネットとしてモデル化し、他のエージェントと通信することにより故障と修復を行う。各エージェントが管理しているオブジェクトに対して異常が通知された時点で、その異常通知を考慮して最適な修復プランを計算する。次に、未観察のオブジェクトの中の近視眼的な情報の価値(myopic value of information)を用いて逐次的に評価し、最も修復プランのコストを減らす観察オブジェクトを見つけ出す。各エージェント間に「インターフェースセット」というオブジェクトの集合を作成し、異なった領域に存在する各エージェントに関連した情報を見失わない役割を果たしている。これらのインターフェースセットを用いてエージェント間の通信を実現する。
As networks increase in size, heterogeneity and complexity, the need to maintain their availability and reliability grows in both importance and difficulty. In this paper, we propose a probabilistic distributed approach to automatic network fault diagnosis and correction in Wide Area Networks (WANs) using Bayesian networks. Each sub-domain of a WAN is assigned to a single agent that models its own partial knowledge as a Bayesian sub-net. When the agent is notified of an anomaly in one of its managed objects, it computes an initial optimal observation plan given reported abnormal observations. The plan specifies the order in which the objects are to be observed. Then, information gathering objects are sequentially evaluated using the myopic value of information, and the agent decides upon the object to observe based on its potential to reveal useful information about which component is faulty, and associated cost. To derive the globally optimal restoration plan, agents maintain an interface set of objects through which they coordinate observation and restoration actions, and keep track of relevant information in other domains.

Abstract
ソフトウェア再利用のアプローチはプログラム開発の生産性向上の技術として提案されている。本論文においては、コンポーネントレポジトリ、各ソフトウェアコンポーネントの定義と同義語を考慮することによりレポジトリからコンポーネントの検索を助けるデータ辞書を提案する。まずコンポーネントをその機能により、クラスに分別する。ユーザに要求されたコンポーネントを発見するために新手法を適用する。この手法では、部分的にマッチしたコンポーネントをそのスーパークラスに統合し、インスタント変数及び似た名前に基づいてそのクラスにをいて最も適したコンポーネントをチェックする。プログラマの要求と検索されたコンポーネントの比較のためには意味チェックを用いる。この手法の利点は正確にマッチしなくても似たコンポーネントを発見できることである。
Software reuse approach is proposed as a technique to increase productivity of program development. We propose the data dictionary support to help in retrieving the software components that a programmer wants to use from the components repository, definition and synonyms of each component had been taken into consideration. We classify the components to classes according to its functionality. We apply a new technique to find the required component. This technique can generalize the semi-matched component to its super class, and then check the most suitable component at that class according to its instant variables and the similar names, and it can use definition check to compare between the retrieved component with the programmer requirement. The advantage of this technique is that the exact match is not necessary to find a similar software component.

ソフトウエア 設計特にユーザーインターフェス 設計は 構造化が難しい作業である。 この領域では設計対象が広範囲にわたるために、 一定 の 戦略 が いつも成功するとは限らない。 創造的設計が必要に応じてなされるためである。 小型知識ベース を備えた 創造的な システム に よってソフトウエア設計における様々な 問題 に 対応 する ことが 可能 に なる。 本論文においては、 創造的 設計 のため の モデルの実装方法を紹介し、 それが ユーザインターフェス 設計に対し有効なアプローチであることを示す。 ここでは創造的設計として 蓄えられた知識 から 直接導くことのできない設計を想定している。 そのため システム は 解の 発見を可能にするような 隠れた 知識を 表現 する 潜在的関係 を 考慮している。
Software design or more particularly UI design is naturally an ill-structured task. The wide scope of design in this domain makes the routine strategies not always successful. The concept of creativity is among the preliminary necessities that may arise. Having a creative system allows us with the small knowledge base deal with a considerable variety of problems. In this article we discuss how we interpret and implement a model for creative design, and how it is a successful approach for UI design. In this regard as the basic definition for creative design we have assumed a kind of design which can not directly be derived from the knowledge stored in knowledge resources, instead the system has to take into account some implicit relations to figure out some hidden knowledge which enable the system to find the solution.

小人数チームを対象にした分散情報処理システム(グループウエア)が多く存在するが多数のユーザーを中心とするシステムはまだ発表されていません。本研究は, 多数のメンバーから構成されるネットワーク上の分散型情報処理環境(グループウエア)のモデルとそのパイロット版を構築する。様々な応用例は考えられますが, 電子商取引システムを実験対象とする。システム科学論からは,複数のオブジェクトを対象にするマスエントロピー法とBayesianネットワーク,人工知能及びソフトウェア工学からの応用技術は,階層構造を持った分散型知識ベースシステム,ゲーム理論,及び分散型オブジェクトである。ネットワークからの応用技術は,ドキュメントオブジェクトモデル(DOM),ネットワークセキュリティーなどである。
Although there are many projects focusing on multi-agent systems, there are only a few focusing on the knowledge sharing. Furthermore, there is no project aiming at knowledge sharing and groupware system with a very large number of actors (i.e., agents or human counterparts). The internet, in general, and electronic commerce, in particular, are examples of such systems. In this project, we introduce a model and devise an implementation for the large scale knowledge sharing using mass entrophy, Bayesian networks, game theory, document object model (DOM) and network security. The agent model for the system components blends the traditional expert systems' reasoning engine with a multi-layer knowledge base, communication and documentation engines. We test the ideas via implementing electronic commerce (EC) agents.

Abstract
A major topic in the field of network and telecommunications is doing business on the World Wide Web (WWW), which is called Electronic Commerce (EC). Another major topic is blending Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques with the WWW. In the Ex-W-Pert Project we have proposed an agent model for EC components that blends the traditional expert systems' reasoning engine with a multi-layer knowledge base, communication and documentation engines. In this project, EC is viewed as a society of software agents, such as customer, search, catalog, manufacturer, dealer, delivery and banker agents, interacting and negotiating with each other. Each agent has a knowledge-base and a reasoning engine, a communication engine and a documentation engine. The knowledge-base is organized in three layers: skill layer, rule layer and knowledge layer (S-R-K layers). In this project, for each EC agent, we identify the class of problems to be solved and build the knowledge base gradually for each layer. We believe that using this multi-layer knowledge base system will speed up the reasoning and ultimately reduce the operation costs.

Abstract

The language is based on two major factors, the level of certainty in fully monitoring (surveying) the agents and the environment, and optimal plan contraction, in an autonomous way. Most of the works related to software agents is based on the assumption that other agents are trustworthy. In the growing Internet environment this may not be true. The proposed new learning language allows agents to learn about the environment and the strategies of their opponents while devising their own plans. The language is being tested in our project of software agents for Electronic Commerce that operates in various security zones. The language is flexible and adaptable to a variety of agents applications.
