I am Professor Emeritus in the Department of Community Health Sciences(DCHS), Cumming School of Medicine(MED), at The University of Calgary (U of C), Calgary, Alberta, Canada. My research interests are mainly in the field of biostatistics and in health/medical fields that use biostatistical methodology.
Since 1978, I have taught graduate and undergraduate courses in statistics, biostatistics and calculus. Nationally, I have been involved with the Statistical Society of Canada(SSC) as member and as regional representative on the board of directors from 1989 to 1991 and from 1996 to 1998, and as President of the Biostatistics Section of the SSC (2004/2005). I was recently Chair of the Pierre Robillard Award Committee. Each year, this committee selects the best Canadian doctoral dissertation in Statistics. The winner is invited to deliver a talk at the SSC Annual meeting and is invited to present a paper to the Canadian Journal of Statistics.
Provincially, I have taken on a number of roles for the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research (AIHS) [now called Alberta Innovates : Health Solutions] and with SEARCH Canada. (SEARCH)
