I am a PhD working as the Bioinformatics Manager for the Centre for Health Genomics and Informatics, University of Calgary (Canada). Although I am Computer Scientist, I am located in the university's Cumming School of Medicine, since I have 25 years of expertise in the use of computational methods for Molecular Biology (Bioinformatics). I develop software mostly in Java, Perl, Python, C++, and R.

A little bit more

I received an honorary Departmental Research Award for 2008 from the department of Computer Science.

I have done article reviews for Bioinformatics, Nucleic Acids Research, BMC Bioinformatics, Genes, Chromosomes & Cancer, IEEE Transactions on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, Evolutionary Bioinformatics, Journal of Biotechnology, Journal of Biomedical Informatics, and Java in Academia and Research.

I graduated from Dalhousie University with a First Class Honours B.Sc. in Computer Science with Cooperative Education, and a Master's of Computer Science. I have a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Calgary. I also know C++, Fortran, Prolog and Ruby, but it's not something I promote :-) For the curious in nature (which you must be if you read this far down the page), my Myers-Briggs type is ENTP, and my Slashdot karma is "Excellent".
